I need suggestions for a puppy safe ant killer.
Our puppy is being bitten by ants. I want something that will kill the ants but reduce the exposure of poison to our puppy.
The ants are outside and that's where she's being bitten. There's no place on the ground in the back yard that's not accessible to her. I thought about putting in those ant stakes but she could get at them and chew on them.
It's there's a all in one poison like the RAID traps, I could nail them to the fence.
Thanks.
Ps. Any remedies for treating her bites? We've swabbed them with Hydrogen Peroxide.

Kudos, BC, very spittake worthy.
Anyway, I don't have any suggestions off hand, but I'm guessing there probably are a few animal safe ant killers out there. (Check out a landscaping or home improvement store.)
Fortunately, ants are very clean animals (they secrete an enzyme on their feet that kills germs, if an ant crawls on your food, your food is probably less microbe filled than before the ant got there--true fact), and most don't bite. Unfortunately, there are a ginormous amount of them making them hard to control.

If you know where the ant nest is, I recommend dousing the hill in vodka.
Otherwise I recommend a nice, soothing shower for your dog regularly.

And then you can finish up by dousing your liver in vodka.

Hi there, what can I help you find today?
Oh, you're looking to kill some ants? Well we have some very fine products over in indoor garden, let me show you...
*short walk*
here we have our Spectracide line of products, they range from total vegetation killers to flea and tick killer, and even just what you're looking for, Ant killer!
Whats that? you have a pet! Well, you are in luck my friend, If you were to choose the Spectracide® Ant Shield® Home Barrier Insect Killer, after the spray dries your pet should have no problems with those pesky ants for up to 4 weeks. I would also reccommend Spectracide® Ant Shield® Home Barrier Granules, these you can just sprinkle easily on your yard and then water, they should also dry soon and cause no harmful side effects to your furry friends.
We also have a wide variety of other chemicals and traps that could suit your needs, just pick up a box and read the side, There are always safety instructions for people with pets and small children!
seriously, I hate working at the home depot, someone save me... or shoot me... either way...... sprectracide is win. I know everything about everything.

They sell a sort of sand that kills ants by cutting them up (it's like pool filter sand), and should be safe for your dog.
I'ver read that oatmeal will also kill them by expanding in their bodies - may want to read up on that.
