Title: Its 2016
Post by: KMD on January 02, 2016, 06:54:11 PM
That wonderful week between Christmas and the new year is over. Its 2016 now! Fallout 1 was released 19 years ago this September.

What do you hope to do this year?

What world events do you see taking place?

Will you finally get in shape this year?

I was thinking this the other day.  I still remember that feeling of Fallout being an entirely different animal from any game I'd played up till that point, I played the demo obsessively till the game was released.

Finish the big PC project at work (hah!)

Scotland moving a step closer to independence.

We bought a nutri-bullet and there's a Gym right below the office so it's this year or never.

I'm planning to go to Japan in May for credit through my school. I've been wanting to go for years, so i'm very excited. Its a 10 day trip, with stops in 4 different cities, but I will have a couple days to explore on my own, which is what i'm most excited about. I'll be sure  to take lots of pictures and share them.

Speaking of school, I should be done by this December if all goes according to plan. Most likely this will mean taking classes all summer too though. After seeing most of my friends start college, and give up, I can't wait to get a bachelors degree. Now, if only I didn't have to pay my debts back.

This is an election year, so I expect a lot of political opinions shoved down my throat.

This will be my 25th year on this Earth. Not very excited about that thought.

Huh, it's just occurred to me that I'm the age that you were when I first joined. :P

I joined the village late 2005 or early 2006, so about 10 years ago (I was 14!). Recently, I searched old regular members on the forum and was really surprised to see how most were in their early 20s and whom i'm older than now!
I remember thinking "these people are witty, mature, experienced adults", when none of those things were probably true  :P

"these people are witty, mature, experienced adults"

I can easily claim one of these categories.

I first joined the village at 18 in '98 or '99, I don't think it's possible I contributed to a mature, experienced perception till my late 20s, around the same time I stopped drinking.

Just realised I'm trying to knock a year off my age '97 or '98, I'm sure I heard about the village well before that and looked in but 18 was when I got dial up. I remember the thrill of accessing the board on the PC World customer demo ISDN machine, I managed to wangle a line when I took over the camera and handheld PC counter where I completed unreal over the space of a week 'honestly I need a gaming machine for the high quality graphics to show off the cameras'

It's a bit daunting to think that I was around 15-16 when I joined the UV at around those times. I kind of miss the old black board with it's top image (I even contributed a few =D) with the yellow text. Hell, I don't think I remember much about those years except the UV.

I hope to get something I've written published this year (or at the very least finished!)

Already in decent shape, plan on continuing the trend!
