Title: New Puppy!
Post by: Chucara on March 04, 2012, 12:36:40 PM
So a couple of months ago, we had to put down Maggie, our miniature Dachshund. But last tuesday, we got a new puppy:

Revel in its cuteness!

Anyway, Jack Russels are feisty lil' critters. Not much sleep she's been doing so far, but her cuteness more than makes up for it.

Adorable! I have a 5 month old Pitbull puppy, and like all puppies they chew. Someone told me about a new dog toy that is indestructable and keeps them from chewing and it actually works.
They're called Kong toys. You fill them with doggie treats and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Mine has not eaten one more thing since we got it....right after it ate my daughters payroll debit card 3 weeks ago. lol!

Hi Tink,

Yeah, Kongs are great. We had them for our last Jack Russel as well (after he ate a 2 hour old couch), and we are using them for the new puppy too.

Learning our lesson from the last time, we have five boxes of toys in a cupboard, and put a new one out every day so that there are always "new" toys for her to play with. That seems to keep them of the couches.

I'll post a few more pictures as soon as I scale them down a bit.

This is our puppy Simba. Not exactly as smart as my Doberman was, but he's getting there. I think I had just forgotten how hyper puppies can be. My cats keep him in line when he get too crazy though. He chases one, but he stays clear of my Siamese. ;D

:( *hugs* Doug. That sucks. I know how you feel. I still miss my Doberman and Husky. My daughters puppy just isn't the same as they were to me.

Here's another one from yesterday. She hasn't been messing around in a puddle of mud in the yard at all ;)

Some dogs are cute and adorable,

but I have 2 dogs (a pomerian and a border collie) and, I mean I like them an all, but they are so annoying with the barking that It makes me want to tear my ears out of my head. It makes me never want to get dogs again. Every farking day, every time sometime comes to the door. Everytime some even walks down our street.

I'm just not a dog person.

I've always been put off dogs.

(Once you have been threatened by a rottweiler, snarling and baring it's teeth at you it takes the joy out of it a little...)

Anywho I know what you mean about the barking thing, my dumb neighbours lock their dog out every day, it doesn't help that it's outside my window and it just never shuts up!

I presume they only lock it out, because it makes so much noise so I have been put off owning a dog for life even one that I can train to steal things...

Re: Barking Dogs

Note 1:  Not all dogs bark, snarl, growl, and remove chunks of flesh from bodies.

Note 2: Dogs can be trained to not bark (but it's best to get them young).

Note 3: Dogs can be socialized to 'mix' well with people and other pets (see Note 2)

Note 4: I like dogs.

My brothers dog was a cross Rottweiler, amazing dog.  When he was a pup he would eat anything and everything, floor coverings... answering machines... you name it he would eat it.  He was an incredibly friendly, calm placid dog that would cope with children climbing all over him because he was trained consistently, the only person he ever really growled at was an insurance guy who came to the door :)

He also never really barked, barking set him off on a coughing fit, crazy dog.

My dog is a horror, he was a rescue dog and hasn't quite grasped that he shouldn't go on the floor or steal food but we are slowly getting there.  He manages to steal food though and that can be a major setback.

My dog barks at nothing and does it often, he's got such an annoying small dog bark too but we love him really

Dogs are great though

I am sure that given the right circumstances I could have a dog which doesn't try to kill me or torture me with lack of sleep.

It isn't my belief that all dogs are evil or how I describe them of course, they are fine until I'm involved then they go apeshit. They're like women being that I don't understand them, but I hear their company is nice and they are nice themselves once you get past the "I'm going to get a sharp object and kill you with it stage."  ;)

Serves me right for posting 6 hours before I normally get up, thank you.
