I get so excited when I read stuff like this...

"the intrinsic advantages of antimatter have not yet been realized due to the inherent limitations associated with the production and storage of antiprotons."

I mean, really, who wouldn't?

This is an excerpt from EXTRACTION OF ANTIPARTICLES CONCENTRATED IN PLANETARY MAGNETIC FIELDS

Move over, Capt Kirk!  We don't need no stinkin' dilithium!

[edit]
omigod, I just found this gem: "The worldwide output [[of antiprotons]] is currently in the low nanogram per year range at an estimated cost of up to $160 trillion per gram with additional overhead for infrastructure and personnel."

We should just invest in antiproton futures;  we could fix the national debt!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in Firefly they used anti-matter to "burn" across the solar system. Basically used it once you were out of atmosphere to cause a big explosion and plot you on a course that worked more like a ballistic movement than a consistently propelled one.

This stuff is always awesome to hear about, especially right now, it's kind of odd.

Obama is addressing the nation about the credit rating being downgraded by S&P, gold is at an all-time high, we're talking about entering the double dip of our recession; yet every ten minute I read about a scientific breakthrough so awesome it makes me forget we don't have rocket cars.

Is anyone else feeling that?

I'm pretty sure rocket cars are overrated:
