Apparently it doesn't always come back to the nazis.
« on: May 25, 2011, 02:45:31 PM »
From the alt text of today's XKCD (http://xkcd.com/903/)
Quote
Wikipedia trivia: if you take any article, click on the first link in the article text not in parentheses or italics, and then repeat, you will eventually end up at "Philosophy".

Even nazism comes back to philosophy.  In surprisingly few steps.

So far I've tried dirt, manga, toaster and Godspell.  True for all.

The Straight Dope board Game Room sub-forum had a thread on this as well.

Apparently there's a few other topic rings as well.

And a new game was started amongst Wikipedia editors to both break existing and form new topic rings. It's kind of like nuclear buildup.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

Well... if you think about it, it's always gotta loop.  You can change the loop, certainly, but it's gotta loop.

I guess you could artificially introduce a random element which would break loops.  But that's not fair.

Haha!

Justin Bieber -> R&B -> hip hop -> American (Music of the United States) -> Hip hop

Another loop not leading to philosophy.

I typed in Fallout and did it and ended up at Psychology... how fitting :)

I have run out of places to climb. I will abandon this body and take to the air. We will leave twin vapor trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. I am the aerial. In my passing, I will send news to each and every star.

Hmmm.... very Villagesque.

But it's not like you get an automatic invitation to the Vestibule, what with not having boobs and all.

Shame I was kind of counting on that.

25 clicks from Buildings of Jesus College, Oxford to philosophy.. the college also being the first non-parenthesis, non-italic link on wikipedia today!
14 clicks from Epic of Gilgamesh.
15 clicks from Hillman City, Seattle.

Interestingly, all of them merge into the line reaching philosophy between 4 and 6 clicks before actually getting there. All of them pass through mathematics, quantity and property before getting to modern philosophy and philosophy.

Justin Beiber also does as well.. canadian > canada > north america > western > geographical > science, and on hitting science it's on the same path as buildings of jesus college

If that was true he wouldn't have made it past the temple of trials in fact he would have been banished from the tribe... oh wait I see what you mean...

"Berries" ends with philosophy.  Though, having a degree in philosophy, I could have told you that.
