After contemplating which version to get, I think I will buy the console version, and then possibly download the PC version. No way in hell I'm paying for both, and rumor has it that you can only activate your PC version twice (which I think and hope is a lie) before having to buy it again if you want to keep playing.

It's the front page story on Digg. I think if you do a total uninstall then you are able to install it more than twice.

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Night Owl: Oh, indeed. I quit many a job ...better than being fired. You can keep your card... in fact, you get double points for quitting!

Christ, Bioshock has one of the dumbest freakin' copy protections ever. This is even worse than Sony DVD's.

Let's see:

Pirated Copy: Works, no activation
Legally bought copy: You have to install shitty spyware (securom) on your PC, and you have to remember to uninstall the game before you upgrade your computer. Otherwise, you'll have to beg for activation again / buy game again.

And what does the copy protection do? Jack shit. We all know that it'll be exactly 1 week until the first crack is out.

Stupid developers.

It's already out. Someone referenced it on that Digg thread.

*shrug* It infuriates me to the point of almost making my hand form a fist..

They blame piracy for forcing them to do stuff like this, yet all it does it create more piracy, which will force them to make even dumber anti-piracy measures. Eventually, they'll ship a game where they've just stabbed the DVD randomly with a screwdriver.

So I downloaded the Xbox360 version, seeing as I can't wait for the actual shipping. (Usually takes a week to get here from play.com)

So far, it seems decent. Very cool (and a bit falloutish) atmosphere, and very tense mood. Definitely not the kind of game my girlfriend would like (she refuses to watch or play anything even remotely scary). I'm still not handing out any game of the year badges, but it seems like it might be a good game.

I wonder if we should dust off Owl's old censoring of the word "peeps" for old time's sake. That thing hung around on the Gamestats board long after he had left. (Which was before I even joined.)
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I got the console version, and I regret that for two reasons

A. I completely forgot how much I suck at console shooters. In middleschool/highschool, I was a mac daddy at console shooters, but I stopped playing in highschool, started playing more and more PC games and shooters and less and less console games. I've completely rusted.

B. I immerse myself too much in games, so playing tense, creepy, shit popping out at me games like this make me tense and edgy. That's why I like to play games like that on the PC, so I can have the TV on, which kind of keeps me grounded in reality and prevents me from freaking out like a tiny little girl.

I dunno what it is, I can take horror movies no problemo, I'm watching them. When I'm *playing* horror movies, different story.

I don't think this one is *that* scary, but those fast moving rippers(or what were they called again?) are pretty creepy. It's still nothing compared to Clive Barker's Undying. That entire game was like the Hotel Basement from Vampire: Bloodlines.

With my new system.. PC..

Finaly got the game running and it looks great on DX 10.

Oh, and most vid cards these days can hook up to TV's.. much like how I could hook it up to the HD TV I have in my room, should I decide to move my desk close enough or get a long enough cable.

My only bitch about the game so far is that the beginning doesnt make a whole lot of sense.. but afterwards.. great :}

The only part of the beginning that didn't make sense to me is why exactly you'd be compelled to use that first plasmid you find.

I know. At that point I just had to assume you're playing the role of a junkie.
