The TK would add that you don't want to confuse love with infatuation, they may call it unrequited love but it's really infatuation, love is the thing that grows over time when you're with someone.  You may know someone incredibly well and love them as you would a family member but the kind of love that comes with a relationship is formed by knowing how they fit into your life as a partner.

Actual unrequited loves comes when you've loved and lost and you still find yourself wishing you were sharing your life with that person.  That really is no fun but it's something just about everybody will experience and have to deal with.

I'm not saying this to be mean or unkind but in this kind of situation it pays not to wrap a situation where there is no relationship in fancy emotional clothes.

TK, in the same third person voice all responess should use, replies that unrequited love is a horrible thing that tends to haunt you, sometimes even after a relationship has been formed and broken.  The positive thing, he reflects, is that it won't kill you and the way you deal with it informs the kind of man you are.

Apart form the lack of gender ambiguity you' ve reminded me a little of Orlando and Birchwood, I know being compared to Virginia Wolf isn't really a good thing but it's meant to be a compliment Banville was nutty as a wallnut cake though so take that comparison as like.

The next gen Ipod and zen type players have solid state hard drives, they're a good option if you want something that has little chance of mechanical failure or is very durable.  They are  very expensive though.

I'd go for a creative player, the zen V/V+ is a very cool looking little thing and it shouldn't cost the earth.

I'm going to put myself out there and post one on  my "I'ar dum" moments.

I went to top up my phone early one morning, got myself together enought to collect my staff discount details and went off on my merry way.

I got to the shop and and asked for the top-up and the guy asked who it was for, I looked at him as if he was stupid and said "for meeeee!"

He looked at me like I was stupid and said; "no, I meant which network"

I looked at him as if I was stupid and mumbled "O2"

That's sad news, the guy was a talent, best noted for his work as a dimensional scientist dude on sliders as dooms says though... and his role in Lord of the rings? amazing!

I'm not sure if I get the whole 'I own a gun for protection' thing, could someone explain the mechanics?

I'm not sure what scared me most; the fact that I read that leet perfectly of the fact that I heard it in the voice of Jules from pulp fiction.  I spend too much time in culturally, and possibly morally. bankrupt pursuits.

Gingers deserve scorn, people who dye there hair aren't actually ginger so they get away with it, having dyed red hairis seen as a  piss take; sort of like saying 'I'm with you brother ginger' while laughing behind your hand at the fact you can revert to a more sane hair colour.

Scottish Gingers are a special case though, the combination of ginger hair and blue skin makes them stand out at any social occasion.

I've not seen any compelling reason to upgrade to vista yet either.

I would say  that 98SE was an essential upgrade though, the support for USB was worth the upgrade alone.  ME on the otherhand...

I always liked the fact that he could modify his personal reality, to me that was one of the things that really defined him and made me smile.

I'm glad the village as a collective can provide some comfort for his family and my thoughts are with them all.

My line is finding what to post. I don't know where on the line I should be. I feel sad but at the same time I feel Foxy would want us to talk about funny/upbeat stuff. Yet... I feel weird if I post something wacky right now. I felt strange talking about my manchild landlord but I thought we needed some addition... I just don't know what. Heck... I just don't know.

What I will say is Darkfox inspired me. I was already on this path but he's made it more concrete. I'm going back into contract work. This means I won't be subject to the whims of a boss. I think about Darkfox's short time and I thought to myself. Life is short and precious. I need to set up my life where I can go out and live whenever I want. If it's Wednesday and we feel like going to the park we should be able to instead of waiting for the weekend. I don't want to just live on the weekends.

I also feel like I need to give myself permission to be happy again. He's not on Earth anymore and intellectually I know he would want us to laugh and have a good time. Emotionally... it's hard to do so. I'm sure I (and others) will feel better as time passes on. It's just very hard right now.

I know how you feel about living at the weekends, I've been looking forward to them for months and marking time in a job I don't see myself in this time next year.

I miss the fox but like you say he was an inspiration.  The way he contantly reinvented his online persona was a clear expression of the way he saw the world and sometimes I wish for a little of that spirit.  I never realise quite the impact he had on me, the village owes a lot to him for what it has been and hopefully more to him for where it's going.

My view of religion is that it has always been a form of social control,  when  handled properly it can been a fantastic way of communicating some high minded ideals of social order to the uneducated masses.  Unfortunately human nature tends to distort the tool organised religion can be.

Oh and: TJC FTW  ;D
