Title: Something Horrible Has Happened
Post by: AcdQueen89 on March 29, 2008, 01:10:16 AM
maybe not horrible, but it is a major inconvienience to me.

soda spilled on my computer. now it wont start. this did happen a half hour ago and it could just need time to dry out. i've already gotten what i could. or at least most of it. right now it's sitting on the desk without a battery waiting to see what happens for now.

what i kinda would like to know if anyone can help,

a) do i jsut wait and see tomorrow or later tonight if it works?
b) take it apart myself when i get a chance and try to sop up the sitcky?
c) take it in to computer services place at school and have them take a look at it?
d) other.

anyone?

Make sure not to turn it on. I've had electronics that were wet and nothing happened to them once they dried out. When it's wet, electricity can travel to other parts can fry components.

The only things I'm not sure about is soda. It's sticky so it won't go away as easy as water.

Unplug it... pull out all the cords, put on gloves and press clean it. Have a friend in the room to help  you in case you get shocked.

those lysol wipe things are awsome! mostly.

i have to start it twice right now to get it to start up, but then again i dont have a screw driver small enough to take apart fully to get those inner inner workings. so far its all working well.

"soda spilled..."

It seems as some of the lurid details are missing...

i was on the interwebs then the bf called and as i was reaching for my bottled soda it went over the screen and top half of my key board. my beverages are placed at the right hand of my keyboard, it was a 24 oz. i immediately got off the phone and turned it off. took out battery and turned over the machine. whiped up all the soda i could. went and found another computer so i could post the origional message.

were you hoping it was sperm or other sexual fluids of some sort?

Well you said it was a coke.

We just figured something awesome involving some leather or at least a nine-iron.

You'll use a device for corporal punishment on a ship, but not the only tool that allows you to successfully perform the Fuzzy Zoeller (assuming you don't have an Arnold Palmer in the room)?

You kids call me old-fashioned.

Are you sure you're not talking about Prince Albert?

Probably not. He's still trying to get out of the can.
