omfg - Romney strikes again...
« on: September 14, 2012, 11:12:14 PM »
In a recent interview:

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Is $100,000 middle income?

MITT ROMNEY: No, middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 and less.

Median income in US is about $50,000.

According to recent U.S. Census data, just 1.9% of U.S. households fit that definition (from this article).

I'm seriously thinking about starting up my web site NMOWG! ("No More Old White Guys!").  They've had over 200 years and they still haven't got it right.

I'm never voting for an Old White Guy again, ever!  (The implication is that I will never be able to vote for myself, but that probably ain't ever gonna be a possibility anyway.)

I don't really consider myself a Democrat, but I'm definitely anti-Republican.

That's admirable but I don't think it's a white guy thing and this is coming from someone who truly believes that white people screwed up most of the world and made most of the "3rd world countries."

But it isn't a race thing, it's arrogance and stupidity that makes them this way I don't believe any race is to blame I can imagine that there are just as many stupid/incompetent black, asian, middle eastern and spanish people in the world. Though most of their countries probably wouldn't allow them to even vote, never mind stand to be a candidate.  ;)

I really dont care who the president is, honestly.

I feel like the president has little influence nowadays
Edit: I meant that im starting to see how silly a two party system is.  Either you're with us, or you're against us. And if you're against us, we're going to smear propaganda against you and do everything we can to stop your ideas, without even considering them.

That anyone who thinks differently is not taken seriously at all is a little sad, too.

All blasted Goldman Sachs or the equivalent.

I still don't see why the Tories (and their Liberal lapdogs) are willing to pay out billions to the banks while cutting back on Incapacity Benefit.
I am thinking of changing my title to "He who must only be mentioned in passing".

Really? Tory policy is like a guide to eugenics, the Tory view basically boils down to money and connections being the only sure way to power and standing on the shoulders of the intellectual poor to give your money clout is just the natural order of things.  If you're unlucky enough to be born poor you better hope that you are bright, ruthless and can fit a bag of marbles in your mouth at the local boys club.  You also better hope that you have very few obvious physical imperfections; you can be as mad as Boris seems to be just as long as it's genetic in the sense that the inbreeding was just to preserve the family fortunes

In my view, particularly because I'm Scottish*, the current British government is unelected, there was a huge power grab in the last election where the Lib Dems were gullible enough to think they could make a difference.

*this isn't some sort of anti-English rant, it simply boils down to the fact that Scotland emphatically voted to keep the Tories out of power.  The SNP lot we have here are just as bad, devo max yes but full independence driven by the petulant and ill-educated child that is Alex Salmond in the current world situation would destroy Britain.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant after all, what was the original point?

I also watched Gattica recently, totally missed it the first time round.

As an Englishman, I would agree with you entirely. I don't judge the Liberals too harshly, but Cameron was elected by what? 36% of the population? I just hope that Scotland doesn't get independence because it would be a route to a permanent Tory majority. And, if it comes to it, Salmond beats Cameron into a cocked hat.

You know what? I support the Scotish independence thing, if they would be so kind as to make one little change...

Could this new independent country take most of the north of England with it? London is practically where everything that tax money is heavily invested in get's built, most of that money is from the northern regions and it's made inaccessible to them. To get down to London it would take 2 hours from where I live which might not sound a lot but when you think about it, it would take me 2 hours to fly to France on a plane! (I'm not including the time it takes to board the plane first and get my luggage at the other end here but hell I can imagine that would only add another hour or two).

My point is London may as well be a separate country if you live above a certain line in England then you may as well be in another country all together. Even with travel sorted, say if I want to visit a gallery or something, by the time news gets to the area that they are showing the paintings of X artist in Y gallery, even if you immediately get on the internet to book a ticket it will be booked out. This is because it's advertised for months on underground adverts and local advertisements there, so everyone is going to book there first.

Every holiday is hosted in London The olympics, the royal wedding and the diamond "Jew belly"... wait... why do I care about this again?

The fact of the matter is that not only do they not care but they actually enjoy the idea that they are "superior" which to me is stupid (and it gives the whole Pride of Britain nationalistic er... bounder a thing for their money too.

So... yeah I'd like to see how the south gets on without the north... they will do so well without factories, land, the ports (if Liverpool is part of the deal) and the money our cities make. Yeah let's see how far they get without that...
