Our landlord is finally fixing things around the house. To give you an idea of how bad it was... I'll cut and paste what my boyfriend wrote:
What have we found so far (this is not a complete list).
* The wall sockets in our house are 50 years old and need to be replaced.
* Our stove has had a gas leak the whole time we've been here, and it is the handyman's recommendation that we don't use the stove again as it is dangerous. He is going to recommend to the landlord that we get a replacement, and should have had one a long time ago.
* When finally cleaning off our roof, we discovered full tree branches and dead birds rotting up there for who knows how long.
* With the dishwasher they cheaply installed and never finished, they didn't seal any holes in the floor like they should have, so there was a direct route from outside into the house for our ant problem.
* The ceiling fan has been shaking as badly as it has for so long as it was held together with nothing more than a few strips of electrical tape. The tape was so old that it was brittle and turning into powder, which started to settle inside the base of the lamp. What was left of the tape... well, I wouldn't exactly call it "tape" anymore at this point.
We haven't even covered half of the repairs from our letter yet. I can't wait to address the rest of these issues, and see what other "treasures" we'll uncover.
My landlord turns a shade paler every time I see him and something else is brought up. At least he's using the money he makes from our rent towards a charitable cause this past week.
I believe the appropriate term for this current chain of events is "LOL".
