At first, I thought "wtf??"...
« on: April 16, 2010, 12:46:07 AM »
But then, after reflection, I realized this would be the perfect thing to hang in the Bastard Bar:

Marilyn Monroe's x-rays

"for the record, I'm not some kind of psychotic provincialist." - Than (ed: Cit. required)
"I lost my game of NT: Garry's fault. Global warming: Garry's fault. End-of-the-Universe: Garry's fault. See it always fits. Anyway, what is Garry up to? No good I bet." - Laszlo
"As for your French, it's probably better than the average English-speaking Frenchman's Finnish! (Or something.)" - wa
"I'm back at Thunderfalls now and every minute thinking of poking a bandit in the eye with a fishhook." - Preyveil
"and yet still nothing has made it to BC's signature!"-KMD

Wait, these aren't the postmortem X-Rays are they?  :stunned:

I want that chez lounge though.

Honestly, I think Marylyn's enduring legacy is the very definition of irony because I doubt her fame and popularity would have lasted this long if she hadn't lived a life of scandal and controversy and died so young.

In another universe...

"Welcome back to Hollywood Squares."

I'll take Marlyn Monroe please.

"Thanks to the Paul Lynde and James Dean square... you win!"

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Night Owl: Oh, indeed. I quit many a job ...better than being fired. You can keep your card... in fact, you get double points for quitting!

::shudder::

I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned from this, but unfortunately it seems to be that you must choose between a short and miserable life in exchange for enduring fame OR live a long and reasonably happy life in exchange for that sad "Hollywood Squares"/Late Night Infomercial kind of fame. :'( It's a real Monkey's Paw kind of situation.

Seriously though, the X-rays are getting into kind of tasteless Marylyn memorabilia territory, like they're finally starting to run out of legit stuff after 50 years. I'm just hoping in 10 years it's not like "Up for auction! This nasty clog we snaked out of Marylyn's drain!"

Peter Marshall: What's the one thing you should never do in bed?

Paul Lynde was awesome. While reading on him, I discovered that KISS, Witchipoo, and he did a Halloween special. together.

I think that if we did the eharmony match thingie, we would be 99% simpatico.

Except for the Grok aspect (wrong age, wrong sex).

And...

Hey Lerk!!

Stick around, man... what have you been up to these days?

well...as I said.. OLDER THAN DIRT I am up to ....
I've played Fallout 3 a lot, but now I have to fight grok for use of the console.
I got laid off (economic downsizing) at the newspaper, and of course no newspapers are hiring, since they're all circling the bowl right now...
and I've tried to get a job with design or internet firms and they are all run by young whippersnappers who take one look at my grey beard and give me the bum's rush out the door...

ha!

anyways, luckily my wife is working, but we're having to live on less than one third of our previous salary, ... I'm trying to get more freelance so I can be Mr. Mom to grok...

oh, and in my spare time I want to start screenwriting.

how is everyone else doing?

Haha!  I seriously read that the first time as "in my spare time I want to start screaming."  :wreck:
