A couple weeks ago I was working on vocab and diction with one of my students and they were flummoxed by the word 'avuncular'.
I said, "You're not going to believe what this word means. Seriously."
She was like, "What? It can't be that weird."
I replied, "It literally means 'having to do with being an uncle. being uncle-like. It's the adjective form of 'uncle'."
She accused me of shitting her, and I got to gloat about the fact that I was right. I mean, it seriously is a ridiculous word! However, thanks to lerk, it's permanently imprinted in my thinkin' sponge
