Unwashed Village / Re: A Spiritual Successor to Fallout 2

This is certainly something I'll keep my eye on. Anything that scratches that Fallout 2 itch is worth a try.

The zombie carcass of Jesus!

It's really more like a zombie carcass kind of thing.

No wait. We're like Jesus! Yes that sounds much better.

When I originally started posting on the Unwashed Village it was back on the old forum. I think I was in 8th grade then and I'm 36 now so wow, time has really gone by. Just wanted to say I'm still around and I'll be peeking in from time to time.

The blogs and websites of their time. =)

There were some really BAD shows out but some good ones as well.

Even the worst shows were better than most of the crap on TV these days.

They've made a lot of changes with The Lich King to get a little bit away from the standard format and add more immersion. They added "dynamic storytelling" which heavily affects some areas, such as when you do  a quest that alters the game in some way, say you destroy a town or something, you'll always see the town as being destroyed, but someone who hasn't done the quest will see the town the way it was before. It's a cool little addition to mix things up a bit.

Also the PvP zone with the siege tanks and rocket launchers is extremely fun. It's a scalable zone as well so if there's 100 horde and 10 alliance the 10 alliance will get a buff to make them not suck so much.

There are a lot more changes to LK than BC, because BC was kind of boring to me.

Also I have my Blizzcon mount and I didn't even have to go to Blizzcon =)

I finally got to go to Northrend, we've been pulling 7 day a week, 10-12 hour shifts. I also got to finish the Death Knight starting zone which was a lot of fun.

Now to finish Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Mirror's Edge, and those few other games I can't even think of now.

I can't wait until 2009 when I finally get a chance to play any of these.

Unwashed Village / Wrath of the Lich King launch!
« on: November 13, 2008, 09:28:39 PM »
Ah, it's that time! A new WoW expansion.

It's been a pretty smooth launch so far, at least when it comes to the realms being stable. (For those joining in, I work tech support for Blizzard).

The main problem we have is that the DVD of the game is dual layered and most older dvd drives are running on older firmware that can't read it properly.

They've actually consolidated the installations into a single disc, so if you don't have WoW or Burning Crusade installed you can install from the LK disc and it will install everything up to 3.0.1 which is about time!

I actually haven't gotten a chance to play myself, I worked 6pm to 5am for the launch, went home, created a Death Knight, immediately passed out, and now I'm working 2pm to 1am. We've already been hearing that some European players have been hitting level 80.

Maybe I'll get to play after I work Friday, Saturday, Sunday.....the massive amounts of overtime is nice. and my collector's edition signed by the dev team is even nicer!

It's certainly fun and has a quirky sense of humor, and it's very violent and has enough poop humor to make anyone giggle. Worth every penny.

I work for Blizzard Entertainment in their technical support department.

We don't have tech tiers, since we can only troubleshoot World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft III, and Starcraft. Beyond the basics of networking, hardware, and software issues we have to refer people to either their ISP or system manufacturer.

It's an amazing place to work though, especially laid back, exactly how you'd imagine working for a video game company would be. For once I actually enjoy going to work and I'm kind of disappointed when I have to go home at the end of the day.

It's still just cool to say I work at Blizzard. That's never going to get old.

I noticed at the last Memphis in May BBQ Festival just about every other team was playing cornhole, and I was so confused because I had no idea when bean bag toss became all the rage.

Also my friend and I took his nephews out for pizza and video games and there was a bean bag toss arcade game. Roll the trackball, toss a bean bag.

I still don't understand it.

Really? I didn't care for act III as much, not because of the ending, but because it felt rushed compared to the first 2 acts.   The songs where not as good either. Ya know, in my opinion.

Hmm  - still, all in all I enjoyed it a lot and the ending DID make me want more. Maybe that was the intent. :D

The first song is definitely my favorite and yeah, act III was certainly the weakest but that in no way speaks for the acts as a whole.

I just watched Act III and it made me incredibly happy. The whole Dr. Horrible thing turned out way better than I expected it to and I'm kind of sad that there's not going to be more.
